Alvarion seems to be trialing a lot of WiMAX-ready gear in Europe via Siemens/Alcatel OEMs. It appears that WiMAX is a lower cost, higher bandwidth, packet oriented solution for wireless deployment that will give traditional microwave links a run for their money? Running on licensed frequency is a good thing. Airspan is also doing something in Japan I believe... while only a press release for now, the intent was " The Yozan MetroZone will deliver high speed IP connectivity, and support Voice, Video and broadband data services. "
