There are striking similarities between DotCom boom (1995-2001) and Web 2.0 boom (Now - ?) ... Nevertheless there are major differences too. One of the major difference would be, that time VC was an essential need to begin a startup; now web 2.0 doesn't need a startup to have big bucks to begin ... in order to analyze this very question, we need to consider both - similarites and differences.
