Re: Yahoo Jammin' With Newspapers
by
Anonymous
The central problem with Yahoo is focus. When Terry Semel became CEO, it would have been logical for Yahoo to follow a targeted content oriented strategy that suited Semel's purported entertainment expertise.
However, they have failed to complete acquisitions of blog networks, blog hosting companies, and internet video sites. So, What is the theme of Semel's tenure? What was his strategy?
Apparently, Yahoo lacks the strategic discipline to choose a specific direction? Yahoo has acquiesced to Google its lead position and will meander on as a rudderless ship along a path to nowhere.
Yahoo is a clear example for all startups that leadership quality and strategic discipline is absolutely necessary to scale and stay competitive.
