As an online Markham voter I can address the latter part of your comment. I found that the ability to vote online enhanced my ability to be an educated voter. For municipal elections people rarely see, hear, or pay attention to the candidates and thier platforms. When I had to make my choices for counsillor and school board trustee I was only familiar with the incumbants. This is the case for most at the voters box, so those are the people they vote for. Online voting allowed me to use "the google" on candidates and get informed. The information was there in the moment I needed it, and 2 minutes later it was forgotten. Would I take the time to do the search before I go to the polling station, probably not since you are coming home from work, etc. etc. I voted at 1am when I had 10 minutes of no distractions, and time to get informed. All in all, a great voting experience and I support expanded use.
