I feel for ya, Steve. I've written columns before with a certain point of view and have been attacked for lack of balance. Your piece isn't marked an opinion piece or comment or column in the online version -- not sure if it was in the magazine -- but it certainly reads that way, so people should just relax. That said, a few throwaway sentences could have silenced your critics, just for the sake of fairness. Even couching your headline: The Internet can really suck? I hate the Internet? I think maybe it's the absoluteness in the headline that sets people off before they've even started reading the piece. Bottom line, however, is I enjoyed your writing style and point of view -- all of it true -- but in the end it's only a half-truth. So I'll have to disagree with your conclusion.
