Just to clarify, Jeff's wife would have been watching the TV set/cable box to which his SlingBox was attached. In order to avoid being called a "broadcast" device, SlingBox only allows one viewer at a time to access a SlingBox from a (remote) PC. Can be from different PC's but it is totally "serial"; no parallel viewing allowed!
About the generation gap: Jeff's wife took the more expensive and resource demanding route to communicate her frustration; when my daughter wanted to relay my mother's frustration with my changing TV channels from California back to Mississauga, I got an IM that read "Grandma says quit playing with the TV"!
