well, no powerpoint presentations is a little extreme. the point i'm trying to make is powerpoint slides should be used to accentuate and/or illustrate the message the speaker is trying to deliver. unfortunately, they're used too often as the presentation itself. i should point out i gave a talk recently (using a powerpoint presentation) that did not go very well. maybe it was me, maybe it was the audience; but i suspect part of it had to do with the fact everyone was focused on the screen than what i was saying.
