The interesting part of BPL is that, unlike cable co and telco, their does not seem to be much of an electricity-over-ip application out there that competes with their "legacy" business. Cable company may wish to deter video over ip. Telco may wish to deter voice over ip. Too much conflict with legacy business. BPL could be a breath of fresh air - or a lot of hot air.
