Re: Flock - Why All the Buzz?

I've been playing with Flock for several hours and I quite like it. I agree some of the functionality could have been put into FF plug-ins but it has improved my productivity. As for so-called Web 2.0 stuff - when Mary Meeker turns up at a conference and speaks, you just know there's trouble ahead. She was the one who once declared the dotcom boom 'new economy' would be measured by the number of eyeballs you own on the desktop. It must have only been in her dreams. Wall Street may be fickle and fashion driven, but even those guys aren't that stupid - most of the time. Just about every business model I've seen to date centres on making money off the back of Google search/adsense. Yeah right. Don't believe it. You've only to look at stuff like Moreover to figure out there was no money to be made there. Neither was there much at Weblogs Inc. Watch any deals that go public and see what value the VCs are getting back - that'll be a good measure.
