Great point. Owens also said he was openly and willingly involved in the executive search for MZ since June. How, then, could he only know the guy for a few days?
My take: Pearce became chairman two weeks after Daichendt and Kunis left following face-off with Owens; Pearce told Owens that losing the Garys was a no-no, therefore Nortel's looking for Owens' replacement; the two negotiated a "diginified" end to Owens' tenure; Pearce and the BoD conducted their own exec search *without* Owens' participation.
