There's a story in one of the weekend paper's about Motorola's success with the Razr. It mentions how Motorola led the pack by launching the StarTac flip phone in the mid-90s. This reminded me of a good friend, who I believe bought one of the most expensive mobile phones in Canadian history when he picked up a StarTac for nearly $1,000 in 1998. Mind you, he was working for a large and profitable U.S. media company so the StarTac was expensed but even so it has to go down as a milestone in Canadian telecom history!
