Ask.com has finally jumped into the blog search arena with a new service that has some really nice curb appeal. A quick run-through this morning revealed some nice features such as a way to easily preview posts; the ability to quickly subscribe to a feed using Bloglines, Google, Yahoo, Newsgator or RSS; and/or post a feed to Digg, Newsvine, Del.icio.us or Digg. In market with lots of competition (IceRocket, Sphere, Google, Technorati, Blog Search Engine, Blogdigger, etc.), Ask.com has come out with a service with enough new wrinkles to capture some serious attention. The big challenge facing all the blog search players is providing users with relevant content at a time when there is a growing amount of "noise" (aka spam, inferior content, etc.) competing for attention. Sphere is attempting to tackle this problem, while Technorati appears to be bending badly under the weight of trying to be comprehensive to the point where its search results are becoming less useful.
Addendum: As usual, TechCrunch has a pretty extensive review given Arrington was given a sneak-peak a few days ago. Read/WriteWeb also provides a good overview. Steve Rubel comes away unimpressed as does Randy Charles Morin, who chides me on my enthusiasm.
