Stuart MacDonald really, really wants a Blackberry 8700 - and apparently Rogers Wireless wants to sell him one....well, at least in theory. Turns out Stuart has found himself in customer service limbo where he wants to give money to Rogers but it's just not happening despite some lavish marketing material and two visits to a Rogers store - something to do with his account being in "pending hardware upgrade" status. Anyway, it sounds very painful. For the trials of tribulations of Stuart's Don Quixote-like efforts to snag a 8700, check out his blog. Could this be the Canadian version of Jeff Jarvis' troubles with Dell, which were all over the blogosphere last summer?

What is it about the music industry's DNA that stops it from putting together an effective, cohesive strategy to address the digital opportunity. Why is it that for every step forward (iTunes) the music industry takes, it takes a big step backward (insisting on trying to raise Tunes prices to $1.29 or $1.59 from 99 cents)? Sure, downloading continues to be a huge issue but continuing to launch lawsuits isn't working. If the music industry was really savvy (instead of trying to protect a decades-old business model), it would focus on serving the needs of - surprise, suprise - consumers. For more thoughts, check out my column in yesterday's National Post.
