Slingbox Coming to Canada

For people pining for a cool device that lets you watch your TV while away from home, Slingbox is coming to Canada on March 30. If Rogers and Bell are concerned about the amount of traffic travelling over their networks, wait until consumers start streaming TVs shows and movies to remote locations.

I've owned one for a while and also use Snapstream's Beyond TV digital VCR software. Slingbox packages everything in one standalone box that's easier for consumers to use. But for the most features and functionality, BeyondTV beats it hands down.

In early February I brought a SlingBox back to Canada in order to be able to watch the Olympics on CBC while on business in southern California.

Greatest experience was watching the third period of the Women's Gold Medal hockey game on CBC while sitting at a Starbucks in Palm Springs. Biggest problem was that my laptop battery ran out just as they started the anthem. (Saw a rerun at my hotel later that night; they definitely should stick to hockey!)

There's a software solution called Orb that does the same functionality of Slingbox as long as you have a TV tuner in your PC. IMHO it is a better solution than slingbox and cheaper as you can buy a Hauppauge PVR-150 card for about $80 and get an extra digital cable box for $100 less $100 in programming credits over the next 20 months. Its not for the technologically inept but it is pretty easy to use.

I would like to purchase at least 50 Slingbox Tuner and Slingbox Pro initially, however once established a trusted supply realtionship, would like to purchase many more, they are the perfect solution to my canadian compare pharmacy's needs. I love the fact that it is a compact and elegantly designed, state-of-the-art electronic device.
