Killing time on a Sunday afternoon got me thinking about who ranks as the most popular Canadian bloggers in terms of traffic and/or influence? I'm not talking about journalists like Andrew Coyne and Paul Wells who have diversified into the blogosphere but people who have embraced the blogging platform and been successful in attracting a following. If you've got any thoughts/nominations, please pass them along.

I would nominate Alec Saunders. His insight and perspectives as Iotum has evolved in the VoIP space set new perspectives on how one should approach the evolution of a product and company. He is also the author of the Voice 2.0 Manifesto which has drawn lots of international attention and acclaim.
Full disclosure: I have known Alec for over twelve years. At that time the outside world would have said we were working for competitors in the memory management market. But in the course of our interactions he demonstrated that Microsoft did not have to be all evil My second nomination would be Rick Segal but to say any more at this time might be a conflict of interest. Let's just say I find his posts both amusing and insightful. Re: Canada's Most Popular (Non-Journalist) Bloggers

It's Cory Doctorow, by a mile. Eliminate Canadians who live abroad and we can re-take the debate.

I would say it's not about popularity, it's about creating compelling content constantly regardless of your "popularity". lots of people blog, podcast and videoblog great stuff but aren't popular in the numerical sense.
We need to get beyond the notion of popularity as a single number I think. Re: Re: Canada's Most Popular (Non-Journalist) Bloggers

Fair comment. So who would you count in that list, then, Roland?
