Nicholas Carr has a quasi-funny/sad about a spat between the organizers of BarCamp and MashupCamp. As someone in the midst of organizing a Web 2.0/blog conference on May 8/9 in Toronto - along with Mathew Ingram, Rob Hyndman, Michael Mcderment and Stuart Macdonald - I'm looking for love, not war....as well as ideas, enthusiasm, engagement and all those intangibles that make you walk away from a conference inspired or, at least, jazzed. Having covered a few of the tech industry's ups and downs over the past decade, it's exciting to feel a sense of optimism again. Instead of waging war, conferenceorganizers need to realize they're all headed in the same direction, fighting for the same things. Update: Doc Searles weighs in on this scrap/nonsense, while Tara Hunt provides a nice synopsis of the "issues".
