Not my usual modus operandi but I'm looking for someone who can help me configure Thunderbird. I'm trying to set up a b5media e-mail account using a Rogers high-speed connection. I've got the incoming mail figured out but struggling with the outgoing server (SMTP) settings. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be most appreciative.
Update: Eureka! It look some tinkering but I've finally got my b5media e-mail working. Thanks to everyone who offered their help.

try putting Rogers smtp server as your outgoing server. they do not like other servers being used in the outgoing path for some obscur technical reason. This took me a few days to figure out on mine!

Mark, for SPAM mitigation purposes Rogers forces users on their network to use their outbound SMTP server. Since they uses authenticated SMTP, you'll also need to enter a user name and password for outgoing SMTP as well. Could the problem you're having be Rogers related and not Thunderbird? Because unless you VPN into b5media's network, you won't be able to use their outbound SMTP settings.
If you don't have your account information on file, call Rogers and ask for your uname/password as well as the SMTP server to use. I can help you configure Thunderbird, but you need your Rogers account info first. Good luck! Re: Re: Thunderbird Woes
thanks to both of you for the help. hopefully, i'll be able to crack this nut.

One of those should work
mtp2.rog.mail.vip.re2.yahoo.com smtp.broadband.rogers.com ssmtp.bloor.is.net.cable.rogers.com smtp-rog.mail.yahoo.com Re: Thunderbird Woes

Rogers blocks outgoing port 25, so if you can't get to the b5media smtp server over another port you're SOL.
I have both Yahoo and GMail smtp servers setup under port 587 which works fine. |
