Manitoba Telecom Services has hired Bell Canada veteran Pierre Blouin to replace Bill Fraser as CEO. If you're looking for a big challenge, MTS is a good candidate given its Allstream division, which sells telecom services to corporate customers, is struggling, while MTS' home market - Manitoba - is starting to see stiff competition from rivals such as Shaw Communications Inc. in the high-margin local phone business. Good luck, Pierre.

Pierre will dress up MTS for sale to TELUS in order to screw his "friends" at Bell who threw him out. Look for MacDonald and Baker to leave shortly now too as the Board has passed them over.

Not sure Pierre wants MTS sold but the poor cousin--Allstream---sure needs a new set of clothes before its on the 4sale Block. Too bad if the management @ Allstream was passed over but that has been the rule since 1970's with this company and its previous incarnates---
Allstream needs to regain its Data focus, concentrate on bringing its governmnet market share back to 35%. Voice-telephony is a no margin service and the sooner these provincial telcos spin-off the divisions into a income trust arrangement---they will be an albatross! IMHO |
