RIM's Day in Court Tomorrow

Let's get one thing out of the way: there is absolutely no chance a U.S. judge will rule tomorrow that will stop Research in Motion from selling Blackberries in the U.S. - despite reports to the contrary. Instead, the judge, James Spencer, will preside over a process to set future court dates for the two parties to carry on their nasty legal battle. Judge Spencer may will impose an injunction on U.S. Blackberry sales at some point down the road but it will not happen tomorrow.

Thanks for the link, Mark. Of course, this is a profile of Judge James Spencer and not a story warning of an imminent shutdown of BB service. No one can say with any authority how he will rule at this point, and the only conclusion I could draw about the man is that "he will be quick and careful to apply the law."

Yeah Simon, that headline and deck is something I'd expect in the National Post, not the Globe. ;)

That said, it's worth pointing out to general readers that reporters don't write the headlines.

Yup, that headline seems to be what some people are focusing on. I've seen a couple of cites now from bloggers who obviously didn't drill down.
