Is there an escape the social networking invitiation merry-go-round?
There must be a way to easily configure your Internet service and/or
computer to block anyone trying to send you a LinkedIn and Plaxo invitation. I find them annoying, intrusive and impersonal. Sorry for the foot-stomping rant but Alec Saunders
sent me an invitation to join his Doostang (a very silly name, by the
way!) network. I quickly spiked it - Alec, you're already on my
"unofficial"social networking list - since I regard these invitation as a
form of spam. If you want to establish a link, call or e-mail me. Now, if anyone can let me know about an anti-Plaxo or
anti-LinkedIn service, that would be useful.

I'm with you on this one Mark. Most of the YASNS things induce a certain hard-to-define queasiness in me, which I've blogged about on a number of ocassions (e.g. here)
I still respond to LinkedIn requests (it seems the least cheesey of the bunch), but I've opted out of all others Maybe you need one of these. Re: Down With Social Networking

Mark - Plaxo is the service provider of the messages Plaxo members send through our service. We do not send these messages, but rather process them similar to a Yahoo! user sending mail through Yahoo! In processing these messages, we include an opt-out/block link in each message. By clicking on the link, you can instruct us as the service provider to block further messages Plaxo members might attempt to send you through our service. You can block messages from an individual Plaxo member, or all Plaxo members if you desire.
Also - I'm sorry if any Plaxo members have sent you an update request inappropriately. Plaxo members are expected to adhere to proper Plaxo manners as described here in our Plaxo Etiquette Guidelines as well as our Terms of Service. The purpose of the update request message is for the Plaxo member to provide you their latest contact information and request you update them as well in order to stay in touch. If you feel that any member is violating your privacy through our service, you may wish to report the abuse to our Abuse Department (abuse @t plaxo.com). All reports are investigated and followed up on. Thank you, Stacy Martin Plaxo Privacy Officer privacy @t plaxo.com Trackbacks
