If you're willing to tolerate commercials, you can watch CBS shows for free online. The U.S. broadcaster has created CBS Interactive Audience Network, which will handle the online broadcasting of shows such as ''Survivor", ''Late Night with David Letterman'' and ''CSI'' through sites such as AOL and MSN. CBS' plans are just the latest way the TV industry is trying to experiment with different financial/broadcasting models to see what works with consumers. Obviously, free TV could be a big draw for consumers not willing for videos on a pay-as-you-go-basis. ''I think what we're seeing is a transition from the Internet as being kind of an experiment... to something that's a part of (networks') hopes and plans for a new profit center,'' said Joe Laszlo, an analyst with Jupiter Research, told Cox News Service.

Re: Watch Online TV Shows for Free!
Alas Mark, we can only dream of watching TV shows online for free. Unless you anonomize your IP address to a US one us folks here in Canada are blocked from the CBS website. It's a neat article and a neat story, but you should check it out and try it out yourself. We have, and it doesn't really work.
It's a strange opportunity though, because while our Canadian broadcasters haven't caught on to streaming their bought shows online, it's pretty easy to find them on other site (mostly illegal postings) or just find the torrent. Our Canadian broadcast system will, in the end, kill itself trying to keep Canadian content on the air. But that's another topic in itself. Re: Watch Online TV Shows for Free!

Yes, VoIP is taking its pace. I recently read this article on IT Insight (http://www.itinsight.info) - a Middle East IT Telecom magazine website - that IPTV and multiplay are the next big things that are happenning in the region. Triple play is already launched in Pakistan by Nayatel (Micronet's subsidiary). They are offering Fiber to Home which includes Voice, Video & Data. People can now watch TV channels on that.
I think Middle East, Asia, Pakistan etc. will experience high investments in this sector in coming months. Re: Re: Watch Online TV Shows for Free!

Yes thats true. Nayatel (a subsidiary of Micronet Broadband) has started its triple play service that includes TV too. I am also pleased to see lot of IT & Telecom publications and magazines now. I remember there not used to be a single IT magazine back in 1997. Now there are so many IT & Telecom magazines in Pakistan, UAE, Middle East and Gulf etc. The one I like the most is IT Insight - IT Telecom Magazine for Middle East and Pakistan. I believe there should be more IT and Telecom news publications.
