In the U.S., political bloggers have been far more active than those in Canada, highlighted by the fact some started to receive media accreditation at the Democratic and Republican conventions in 2004. In Canada, the political blogging community is just starting to take major steps forward with a strong contingent going to this weekend's Liberal convention on the same footing as traditional media. It will be interesting see the different kinds of coverage that come from bloggers reporting from the convention aside from the usual crowd, which includes Warren Kinsella and Andrew Coyne. The growing influence of bloggers within the political community was more than evident when Maclean's magazine recently conducted a roundtable featuring four bloggers - CalgaryGrit, Jason Cherniak, John Lennard and Cerberus (oddly enough all of them use blogspot.com as opposed to Wordpress or TypePad, which provides some insight into how far behind the curve Canadian blogger still remain.)
