I've been dabbling with Wordpress but I really need to take a course or sit down with someone (in Toronto) to get a running start. If anyone can help, let me.

Mark, I've used Wordpress at http://benlucier.wordpress.com for some time now and also recently installed it on my own server too, which was a heckuva lot more involved. I'd be happy to give you some insight, but my gut tells me you're more interested in learning about some of the more advanced features that I may not be up to snuff on. Let me know either way. -Ben

using wordpress is a real doddle and the best thing to do is experiment and subscribe to the sites that announce all the new plugins like (mine!), blog herald, blogging pro etc.
I moved from Blogware to Wordpress about 6 months ago and I managed to redirect all my old urls to the new wordpress urls so I didn't lose any traffic. The trick was working out how the two permalinks work, but after researching modrewrites I was able to crack out. I'm more than happy to help if you want to migrate: http://www.connectedinternet.co.uk/2006/06/02/892/ http://www.connectedinternet.co.uk/2006/06/06/918/ Re: Wordpress Anyone?

I use Wordpress, the hosted version. Since the added domains, the need to put on your own server is really eliminated. If you run it yourself, you will always be one feature behind, whereas the hosted version gets everything right away. This is important, because WP as a real example of Web 2.0 are continually improving with new things weekly, and new big things at least monthly. To upgrade your own server that frequently would be horrendous.

I'd be happy to join you. I'd like to learn more about wordpress for my little houseblog. Noodling around with it is nice, but it only gets you so far, IMHO anyway.

I use WordPress for my guymcdowell.com website. I tested a few other 'packaged' blogging applications and WordPress is by far the best and most customizable I've seen.
I am a web developer and designer, so I guess that might make it easier for me to noodle with it. Advice - get your hands into the code and mess around. View the code from WordPress templates and see what makes this thing tick. Mark, you're obviously technically-inclined, you can do this! Cheers, Guy McDowell Re: Wordpress Anyone?

As an aspiring web developer and blogger I should be able to help you. As this semester wraps up I have a lot more time on my hands. I have been using Wordpress for years now, and I am fairly adept with PHP. So feel free to contact me.
